Papillomas in the body are benign formations of an infectious nature. In particular, strains 16 and 18 have a tendency to degenerate into malignant forms (more than 100 species are known in total). Warts and papillomas are synonymous.
Features of the disease:
- It occurs in people of all ages, mainly women (the number of detected cases is 1. 5 times higher than in men).
- Infection occurs through contact or sexual contact. The virus goes unnoticed for a long time because it does not have a strong effect on the immune system. In addition, once the genome is inserted, only the viral DNA remains, not the virus itself (it is almost impossible to extract it).
- There are a number of vaccines designed to reduce infections and reduce susceptibility to the viral agent.
- After infection, immunity is formed in a typical, non-crossing, stress-free, low form, which means the possibility of re-infection.
Reasons
The main cause of papillomas in the body is human papillomavirus (HPV, papillomavirus). It refers to DNA-containing viruses that explain their ability to integrate and change their structure in the human genome. The virus enters the bloodstream through microdamages and is located in the basal layer of the epidermis. Division occurs only at the level of the microbial layer, the virus can be detected in the remaining parts, but there is no division at these levels.
There are several clinical forms of the disease:
- manifest - primary infection with the virus in immunocompromised people;
- subclinical - a form in which the manifestations of this pathology occur periodically, followed by long-term relapses;
- latent - a form (cart) associated with the integration of the virus directly into the genome.
Factors predisposing to the development of neoplasms:
- Skin damage. The virus cannot enter the bloodstream without at least minimal damage to the skin, which serves as the gateway to infection.
- Decreased immunity. HPV can be attributed to conventional pathogenic viruses, which make it dangerous for humans if the normal cellular or humoral immune response is suppressed.
- Failure to follow the rules of hygiene when visiting public places. The virus is contagious and infection can occur even at low concentrations in the environment.
- Disruption of the normal diet, constant stress and lack of proper rest lead to the suppression of the immune system, the body becomes sensitive to the effects of the pathogen.
- Inflammatory and infectious diseases often lead to the depletion of the immune system (this is especially important for people who are often ill).
- Human papillomavirus can also be passed on to the unborn child at birth (vertical transmission).
External manifestations
The external manifestations of papillomas in the photo have the following features:
- Numerous formations protruding above the surface of the skin. They can take the form of a classic wart (straight lesion on a broad stalk) or have a thin stalk and hang over the skin like a rooster.
- The color rarely differs from the surrounding tissues. The exception is cases of germination of the formation in the superficial vascular network, in which case it acquires a reddish color. The rapid change in color indicates a possible rebirth (differentiation by moles is also performed).
- The contour is usually smooth and clear. Exceptions are bottle formations.
- The surface is often smooth and slightly shiny. When the upper eyelids, neck, and armpits are located, the surface is often uneven with cauliflower-like pointed heights.
- The diameter varies from small foci of a few millimeters to 1-2 cm. The same part of the human body can have formations of different calibers. If the papilloma grows too fast, a doctor's consultation is required.
How to get rid of papillomas
Treatment of papillomas in the body occurs according to a single scheme, regardless of the exact location (there is an optimal choice or combination for each specific type):
- Destructive methods (physical and chemical).
- Mixed methods (simultaneous effect of local drugs and destructive treatment options).
Treatment of papillomas with cytotoxic and immunological drugs is allowed only under the condition of a general process (papillomatosis, ie a large number of papillomas in the body). In the case of single formations, such therapy is not carried out due to the large number of side effects and side effects of drugs of these groups.
Methods of destruction
Destructive treatment options are the same for all skin lesions caused by HPV. They are divided into physical and chemical.
Methods of physical destruction:
Method | Description |
---|---|
Electrocoagulation | The formation is cut in layers of healthy skin (a deep enough defect may form that will heal over a long period of time). In the case of a deep lesion, it is performed under local anesthesia with a solution of lidocaine (2%). A needle electrode is used for this. |
Cryodostruction | Usually liquid nitrogen, nitric oxide or carbon dioxide are used. The duration of exposure is selected taking into account the location and extent of the lesion. Often several sessions with a frequency of 7-10 days are required. |
Laser destruction | Multiple removal of a skin neoplasm using a concentrated light beam of a certain wave. On average, exposure can last from 5 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the extent of the lesion. As a result, an itching appears at the site of the lesion. A bandage is then required until the wound heals. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. |
Radiosurgical destruction | The formation is destroyed by an electromagnetic wave from 100 kHz to 105 MHz. In this case, the tissues are heated and local necrosis occurs (suitable for removing small foci). |
Folk remedies
At home, it is permissible to get rid of growth with traditional medicine, but it should be borne in mind that their effectiveness is low. In addition, before starting such treatment, it is necessary to consult a specialist to distinguish papillomas from a number of other skin diseases with similar manifestations.
means | Recipe |
---|---|
Celandine juice | Crush the stem of the plant with the fresh juice obtained, wipe the damaged area 3-5 times a day for 10 days. |
potato juice | Grate raw potatoes until gruel, then squeeze and wipe the resulting juice 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 4-5 weeks. |
onion juice | Finely chop 1 onion, press down a little until the juice is visible. Apply the resulting cuttings 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes in focus. Treatment should be carried out within 3 weeks. |
calendula | Crush a few flowers in a mortar, apply the resulting mixture to the affected area and leave for 30 minutes. Repeat the procedure in the morning and evening for 21 days. |
